Next Week, Pokémon Unite to Get Blastoise

While Pokémon Unite is yet to make its way to mobile devices, its Nintendo Switch version is still getting new content. This time, it’s Blastoise, a bipedal turtle-like Pokémon with two powerful water cannons on the back. Already well-known by other games, this species is a great addition to the Pokémon Unite roster.

Pokémon Unite does not hurry with introducing new Pokémon. It’s caused by the nature of the game: any new Pokémon requires rebalancing the entire game. No wonder new species make their entrance slowly, one by one. So far, there are only 22 Pokémon of all 898 listed in Pokédex so far. Initially, the game had just 20, but Gardevoir and Blissey were introduced recently.

It’s a bit more complicated with Blastoise. It has been featured in the beta version but not in the first release. After that, the Pokémon was announced to appear later. And now the time for it is finally coming. Those on mobile devices will receive the game with Blastoise already in it.

Balancing is important, as in Pokémon Unite, battle types are even more important than elemental types. There are five of them: Attacker, Speedster, Supporter, Defender, and All-Rounder. It’s the most logical of the developers to make Blastoise a Defender-type Pokémon, heavy and well-protected. At the same time, Blastoise is capable of powerful attacks with water cannons. These attacks are long-range, so they do not require fast movements. The complete set of features is yet to be revealed.

As for all the characteristics of Blastoise in Pokémon Unite, they are not revealed yet. But there's not a long time left to wait. The introduction is scheduled on September 1, so it’s just days away. In addition to the basic appearance, players will have a chance to purchase additional outfits for Blastoise and other paid extra content.
