Fortnite Season 8 — Almost Like Minecraft

Fortnite Season 8 — Almost Like Minecraft

Fortnite’s new season is full of surprises. Let’s see what you can expect from the newly transmorphed island.

In the previous chapter, we dealt with an alien invasion. A giant Mothership hovered over the heads of the players, threatening to enslave the freedom-loving fortniters (the ship obviously missed an Apple Corp. logo).

The ship has been shot down. Now the cubes, which used to power it with mysterious energy, are turning the island into a macabre realm of interdimensional monsters. To combat those, you’ll receive new weapons, characters, and locations.

The legend of the chapter says the following: “These things are a bigger threat to the island than those aliens could’ve ever been. They have no face, no speech, but they’re sentient and have six sides of malice.”

And it’s completely true. The cubes serve as a portal to otherworldly dimensions where bizarre creatures dwell. They are highly hostile and highly dangerous. So, if you want to try your sci-fi Van Helsing-style hunting skills, the anomaly zones are waiting for you.

The game also has some new XP-grinding options. You can access one of the side-quests known as Sideways. There, you will beat monster-related challenges, experiment with the decreased force of gravity, and snatch the pieces of the destroyed cubes.

These cubes are made of some enigmatic element, which is unknown to Mendeleev's chemistry table. In turn, you can modify your weapons, using them. As a result, your arsenal will be extended with sideways weapons.

Another cool feature is that players will be invited to cooperate. Retaking the Island is a huge collective effort. You can also donate in any form to the guerilla: building a turret, joining a Sideways raid, and even donating some of your loot.

Which finale do they plan for this chapter? Shall we travel to other dimensions through the cube portals? Leave a comment and tell us what you think!
