Get Ready to Reactions on WhatsApp

WhatsApp is working on a current beta version of the chatting platform for iOS and Android. Any time soon, we might be able to use a selection of reactions to messages from your friends and family. The feature has been in development for quite a while and is coming to the finishing stage.

A selection of testers can try out the function already if your phone is compatible with an update: 2.22.15.6 and 2.22.15.7 for Android and 22.14.0.71 for iOS. This feature might be familiar to you from Instagram since the Meta-owned platform has already successfully integrated reactions to the messages. Users will see a little ‘+’ sign after all the pre-selected six emojis options, so you can choose any available stickers on your keyboard.

The reactions are nothing new, and the working algorithm doesn’t really change from Instagram. You need to tap on the message and select an appropriate emoji that suits your feelings. On Android, you can call up the menu of all the reactions, and for iOS, there is a section that you can scroll through to see and look up the needed emoji. The feature is still in beta-testing, so we will need to see how it works.

In addition, WhatsApp is currently working on a prolonged time limit for deleting messages. For now, it reaches 1 hour, 8 minutes, and several seconds, but in upcoming updates, we might see bigger time spans of 2 days and 12 hours. This is a handy feature if you need to keep something secret.

WhatsApp beta testers have a lot of work on their shoulders right now. Meta has a lot of projects that are worth keeping an eye out for, so we will take a closer look at them in the nearest future.

Do you find reactions in messages important? What other functions are you looking forward to? Please, share your thoughts with us in the comments below.
