Instagram Makes Payments for Reels Creator
TikTok is still one of the most popular streaming platforms nowadays, and some applications want to catch up. Instagram announced that it would pay $35,000 for the Reels creators whose video reaches 58.31 million views. This news appeared in July after Meta reported that it would spend $1 billion on streamers in 2022. The highest payment is only possible if creators have many views, but they can get a smaller one too.
Instagram offered $1,000 for Maddy Corbin with 52,000 followers. Later she wrote that others could get $800 and $600. It’s not clear how the number of subscribers influences the payment. For example, a platform offered $8,500 to Verge streamer with 15,000 followers, and TechCrunch reported that the same amount was paid to another creator with 24,000 subscribers for 9.28 million views. It can be that the payment amount is increasing with time.
The method to raise the Reels popularity is in the first stages of development, so Instagram is still testing it now. Though, this idea isn’t new. Youtube claimed that it would pay up to $10,000 a month for the videos with high views ratings. Snapchat makes good running too. It created challenges for its users with the prizes for the best three videos. They range from $1,000 to $25,000 right now.
It looks like Instagram strives to support streamers and increase their motivation to create interesting videos that will get many views. Reels is quite similar to TikTok, so perhaps Instagram wants to encourage more active users to use Reels instead. Do you think this way to get more Reels subscribers and increase its popularity will work? If you have anything to share about this news, you can leave a reply below.
