PUBG Mobile Announces a $6 Million Prize Pool at the Global Championships
The Global championship of PUBG Mobile, announced during the World invitational, is set to hold within three months, starting from November 2021, after which a world champion will be crowned. This will be the biggest event of the PUBG Mobile Esport and with it comes a massive prize pool tanking about $6 million. This is three times the prize money of the previous championship.
This championship, just like the previous one, will be divided into the league stage and the final stage. The leagues will be held between the months of November and December while the finals of the competition will take place in January. The schedule and slots will be revealed at a later time by the company. Teams with highest points in the league and final stage from both seasons of the Pro League in 2021 will be qualified for the PUBG Mobile Games Championship. Slots are also available for top teams of the regional championships at the Global Championship.
At the moment, due to restrictions on physical gatherings owing to the pandemic, we are not sure if this will be a live event. The company is working very hard to make it an offline event, but there is a lot of uncertainty to make any assertions at this point. Alternatively, considerations are being made to hold the event at several locations.
The event had been planned to be held at the Coca-Cola Arena, Dubai, UAE but due to several players testing positive in the finals of 2020’s PMGC, a lot more caution is being applied this year. The rise of the new delta variant of the coronavirus isn’t making it any easier to hope for a live event during the championships. We can only be hopeful that the surge subsides before the championships begin in November.
