San Andreas Gets a Fan-Made Far Cry Mode
While the official Trilogy remaster gets booed, a fan-made San Andreas remake attracts favorable attention online.
The mod, driven purely by enthusiasm, is powered by the Dunia engine — the same engine used to produce Far Cry 5.
It should be noted, that the fan mod gives a major head start to the official remaster.
First of all, it has a much bigger dosage of photo-realism — the lightning, object textures, amount of detail in decorations and vehicles, as well as shadows and reflections truly make the well-known Grove Street shine in new colors.
The legendary neighborhood looks way sleeker
While the visuals of the mod can easily compete with GTA 5, it’s too early to tell how the physics behaves and whether Carl will be as clumsy as Michael, Trevor, and Franklin.
Initially, the mod appeared in the MapEditorMaster Subreddit. Apparently, work takes a load of time, but according to the author: "Remaking GTA San Andreas from scratch- Gameplay soon."
Los Santos from the bird view
The progress, behind the scenes, and demos of the upcoming mode are leaked via the modder’s YouTube channel GhostinHell.
One of the most intriguing parts is the heated action scene, involving SA police. While in the first-person view, it nicely demonstrates how much potential the fire combat might have in the mod.
Gameplay was promised to come later
At the same time, the FPS-like view gives you a strong feeling that you’re inside a bizarre version of Far Cry, which is now dedicated to the urban guerilla.
For those who want to learn more about the modding process, GhostinHell has made a whole 20-minute video, which demonstrates how painstaking it is to place every brick and tile to make the area look natural.
As for the recently debuted trilogy, Rockstar has to literally apologize for what they made — the fans keep on heckling Trilogy Remaster with spiteful comments and ironic memes.
