TwitchCon: Mario’s Got a New Voice, Master Chef Twerks, and an Adult Star Gets Injured

TwitchCon: Mario’s Got a New Voice, Master Chef Twerks, and an Adult Star Gets Injured

There was a lot to witness and discuss at the latest TwitchCon that took place in San Diego on October 7-10. While some events were as festive as they should be at such an event, others were, to say the least, controversial. And it’s not about the perception flaws that no fan will admit though we all have them; some of them were really traumatizing.

Well, seeing Master Chef on the TV screens was a strange but overall rewarding experience, which can’t be said about a Chef-dressed fan twerking on the stage with Megan Thee Stallion (who, on the contrary, did just what we expected from her). Master Chef, though, is the least likely character to do this, despite we know that he needs to relax sometimes. Seems like neither the cosplayer nor the rap star realized how out of character it was – at the event where characters are not only modelled but followed too.

Sometimes not only fans but professionals also look – and sound! – strange when trying to play some fan-beloved characters. So it happens with Mario. His portrayal in the 1993 movie by Bob Hoskins is usually regarded as a good work in a disaster of a movie; Chris Pratt, voicing Mario in the upcoming animated movie, though, is less convincing. And the problem is with his accent: it’s neither Brooklyn Italian (as would have been logical for the character) nor Pratt’s own manner. It’s forced to be different from Charles Martinet’s voicing that has become one of the game staples, and to those used to Martinet’s version, it sounds fake.
What was real to the bone (literally) was the accident with Adriana Chechik, a streamer and (part-time) an adult movie actress.

Fans probably won’t see her new roles for long after she broke her back in two places while jumping in a foam pit after a foam sword duel she had won. In the nearest future, she’ll be busier suing Lenovo for not providing enough safety in this section rather than streaming games or showing her other talents.

Well, which of this disturbed you the most? We need your feedback, so tell us what you think. See you in the comments!
