WhatsApp Can Lose Google Drive Backups
Famous unlimited backups from Google Drive could be lost in the upcoming WhatsApp update. Yet, we are not sure whether the current WhatsApp 15GB free plan will cover the changes. WhatsApp still supports the backup option on iOS and Android. An iCloud still offers only a limited backup number for Apple devices, while Google Drive has unlimited storage for backups from WhatsApp.
Yet, the arrangement made by Google is not stable and can be changed in the future. According to the WABetaInfo, a popular WhatsApp analyst and tipster, the new update of WhatsApp code has the strings that lead to the limits of Google Drive. WhatsApp did not announce anything about this decrease of the Google Drive limit for backups. Yet, we may only hope that the 15GB limit stays there.
The news appeared only several months after the news of WhatsApp updates for Android’s backup. The feature could help users to take under control the backup size of Android’s version of WhatsApp. According to the previous information, also revealed by WABetaInfo, the feature could help you to change the number of files you want to backup. You could exclude photos, videos, or any other documents from the total number of backup files. This new feature offered the ability to manage your own files before you could save them in the storage.
If you are surprised with the possibility for WhatsApp to refuse unlimited storage of Google Drive, you may forget last year’s events. In 2021 Google has already cut down unlimited backups of Google Photos. It looks like Google is aiming for the paid storage possibilities. There is still no official statement from Google or WhatsApp about this rumor. Let’s wait and see.
