WhatsApp is Planning to Add Companion Mode and Do Not Disturb Functions

Two new features may soon become available to Android users who use WhatsApp. The first feature that we will talk about is the companion mode which will become available for Android tablets, while the second feature is the addition of Do Not Disturb API.
In essence, the companion mode allows the secondary device to become a companion to the first. Both of these devices have to have WhatsApp on them and have access to the same account. The ‘Do Not Disturb’ API is just what it seems, allowing people to mute missed call notifications when this mode is turned on.

It was reported by the WABetaInfo that the first feature will see the light of day in the beta version of WhatsApp 2.22.21.6. This means that currently it is only available to Android beta testers. The update will allow people to use Companion mode to connect their smartphones to tablets and link their WhatsApp accounts. As a result, this new feature will allow people to link up to 4 devices, such as smartphones and tablets, to a single account. All you have to do is open Settings and click on the Linked Devices tab, which will prompt you to scan a QR code.

This feature was first noticed earlier this year and it seems that it is almost ready to be released into the world. According to official statements, when a user switches over to Companion Mode, all of the messages and data that is stored locally will be deleted.
The Do Not Disturb API has been in development for some time and is currently being released on Android in the 2.22.21.7 patch. It seems that this feature will also be coming to iOS 15, though currently no official statements have been made.

What do you think about the two new WhatsApp features that will soon become android users? Is it enough that you can only link 4 devices to a single account? Tell us what you think in the comments below.
