Whatsapp Tests Shortcut Option for Message Searching

Like all other instant messengers, WhatsApp offers the option to search for messages in private chats and groups by keywords. To do it, users have to click several buttons to find the search option in the drop-down menu. The developers want to simplify the task and add another, more handy search capability.

According to WABetainfo, which closely monitors app updates, a shortcut option has been discovered in the 2.22.6.3 build that will slightly change the interface of a contact information page. Currently, in addition to an avatar, phone number, and settings, it has buttons “Chat,” “Audio,” and “Video.” Instead of the first, the developers will add a “Search” button that will allow you to look for information on messages with a specific contact. The same feature will also appear on the information pages of groups, which now have “Audio,” “Video,” and “Add.” Which of these buttons will be replaced by “Search” is not specified.

It appears that this option is still in its early beta stage, as users who have been able to test it have reported that it does not work very well. How soon the developers will fix the bugs and make the function public is unknown. These are reportedly not the only features that WhatsApp is currently working on. It is planned to add privacy shortcuts for “Statuses.” Users will be able to limit the list of those people who can see their status changes. You will be able to allow it for all or some of your contacts and select a few that won’t see your status updates.

If you want to be among the first to get access to new functionality, participate in the beta testing program WhatsApp has. Perhaps you have ideas on how to make the messenger even better? Please tell us in the comments! What updates would you like to see first?
