YouTube Is Pushing for Shorter Videos With Its New Shorts Shelf
Due to the insane popularity of TikTok, YouTube recognizes that shorter videos are something that the majority of people want to see. As a result, every YouTube channel now contains a separate ‘Shorts’ section that allows users to quickly see all the small videos created by this particular channel.
From now on, whenever a channel uploads a video to their Shorts, it will be displayed in a separate section. This provides YouTube channels with a specialized section for a completely different type of short videos, allowing them to become a great promotional method.
All of this falls in line with the current trend of short video clip engagement. It has been reported by YouTube that Shorts clips have already gained 5 trillion views in total, being particularly popular in India. Thus, it is only logical for YouTube to help its content creators by providing them with such a useful feature.
This move by YouTube is meant to rival TikTok and bring some of its users to YouTube. The best part is that YouTube has decided to integrate Shorts into already existing channels, rather than creating a separate app with short videos from scratch. Thus, Shorts will play a supplementary role for YouTube’s channels, allowing content creators to post all of their content on YouTube, rather than having their content split between YouTube and TikTok.
What makes Shorts clips even more attractive for content creators is that YouTube, unlike TikTok, has a well-established system for generating revenue. Thus, this new display element is just one more step in creating a real, more attractive alternative to TikTok.
Do you think that YouTube will ever be able to rival TikTok in terms of short-video popularity? What else does YouTube need to do to attract TikTok content creators? Tell us what you think in the comment section.
