Google Drive is one of the most famous applications for keeping your files in the cloud. It was released by Google LLC for Android and iOS devices. Furthermore, you can access the platform using your browser.

Design and Usability 10/10

Google Drive uses a material design like all Google products. It has white color on the background and a minimalistic interface. In spite of its simplicity, you will be impressed by how many useful features it has. On top of the window, you can see a search bar where you can find the files by their name or the content they contain. On the bottom, there is a menu bar with 4 icons:

  • Home: shows the last opened and edited files;
  • Starred: shows only the files that you have added to this list;
  • Shared: here, you can find the files that were shared with you by other users;
  • Files: all folders and files stored on your Google Drive.

Key Functions 10/10

The main aim of Google Drive is to provide you with space to store the files safely and access them within seconds. Users can keep files of different types, including images, videos, documents, and so on. Moreover, there are several options for the availability of the files:

  • You can make them public;
  • You can share them only with certain people;
  • You can keep them private.

The application is widely used for creating, view, and editing files. In addition to the access level, you can choose the role you want to grant certain users. It can be editing, comment, or reading. Google Drive saves the history of files modifying; therefore, you can always see when and by whom it was edited.

To use the application, you need to connect to the Internet. Also, you can use Google Drive offline by previously downloading certain files. But note, any comments or suggestions other users can only see after you will have an Internet connection.

Security & App Purchases 8/10

Google Drive is highly connected with other Google products and services, like YouTube, Google Maps, and so on. Therefore, if you are going to use the application, you need to know that all the information is collected and share with these services.

Google Drive is free for installing and downloading, but it contains additional in-app purchases. By default, you have 20GB of free space, and if you want more, you need to subscribe to the premium version. The prices differ according to the size of the space you want to purchase. Also, there are packages for users and businesses.

    Pros

    Free to install and download; A big community of users; Regular updates and improvements; The opportunity to use offline;

    Cons

    Available only on two mobile platforms; The data is shared with other Google products and services;

Conclusion

Google Drive is one of the most popular platforms for keeping, accessing, and sharing files. It is available for two mobile platforms: Android and iOS. You can download the application for free on Google Play or Apple Store. By the way, Google Drive is the number 3 app on the Apple Store in the Productivity category.
