Passion Puzzle is a strange hybrid of a dating simulator and a Match-3 puzzle, something between Options and Best Fiends. You’re a tourist in a strange city, and there are so many pretty girls around, so why stick to one? But getting them hooked is a tricky art.

Graphics and Sound (9/10)

On, a good puzzle can be very spectacular, but anything gets better when the girls go flirtin’ in. The dialogue scenes are quite simple, like scenes from a graphic novel, yet, if you succeed, the girl you date will show you what she’s got (quite decently, though, so that the pic wouldn’t be banned on Instagram).

Controls (10/10)

There’s literally nowhere to be confused. The social pat is all about selecting: you tap the reply you want to use, you tap the new area to discover, you tap a new girl you want to date. When it comes to the Match-3 part, it’s just as simple. Just slide over the group you want to remove and count your points, the same way it’s done in Best Fiends.

Gameplay (8/10)

It’s a combination of two totally different games that feels surprisingly organic. The external social game is a story of a tourist guy out on a love hunt, and he doesn’t even have to leave the airport to find the first date. The more successful he is, the more rewarded for it he gets. It’s a separate story of how to earn on dating. The girls obviously don’t pay him, or it would be a different story. Maybe he conducts webinars on the matter? Anyway, when you meet a girl, you start the conversation, and it usually results in a date.

Dates are played like Match-3 puzzles you need to finish within a certain number of moves. These puzzles depend on the girl’s preferences and mood: she likes different gems differently, so if you collect those she likes, you get a better score.

Once the puzzles get more complicated, you’ll need more powerups (just like in Candy Crush Saga, Toon Blast, or other puzzle games). And, to keep catching girls, you need stamina that can be recovered over time or… with payments.

Lasting Appeal (8/10)

The storyline itself seems too simple and rarely surprising (unlike, say, Options and some other social simulators). We tried to find at least one reply that makes the girl reject your ideas. Oh no, whatever you say, they buy it. But this storyline provides some interesting nuances affecting the puzzle part. Besides that, the girls you conquer can blast you with some provocative pics; they are really fine, though neither real nor pinup-styled.

    Pros

    Lots of beautiful girls (drawn, but nevertheless); Decent puzzle part; Romantic storyline affects the puzzle gameplay;

    Cons

    Your character is too irresistible; This genre mashup isn’t always organic;

Conclusion

Passion Puzzle is rather a puzzle than a passion. If you just want to see beautiful girls in games as well, you’ll like it. The social part of making a relationship is of little interest because your character is too irresistible. This is why he’s hot ‘cause he’s fly; you ain’t ‘cause you’re not. But you’ve got the brains to help you are alter ego with it.
